Today is our anniversary. Can you believe it's been thirty years? I can't.
We aren't going to do anything special that I know of. (Spousal Unit may have something sneaky planned, but that isn't something I am counting on.) We are planning to go out to dinner this evening. I would like to go to the Italian place, the next town over. I had lunch there the other day and it was really good. I wouldn't mind trying it out for dinner.
Spousal Unit and I usually don't do too much for occasions anymore. All our "needs" have been met and most of the "wants" are to travel here in Europe. Which we are starting to do.
For our twentieth we went on a Caribbean cruise. He had been after me to take a cruise for years. I get so motion sick that I found excuse after excuse to avoid a cruise, until I ran out of excuses. So we went and of course, I loved it. Our cabin was on a perfect deck level for stability and the motion sickness never occurred. True, I couldn't go to the top decks, but most of the boat was OK.
I don't even remember what, if anything, we did for our tenth. Too many years ago. I know that the boys were younger and we probably were in the throes of raising the two of them. We were most probably at some soccer tournament or other kiddo related activity.
So I don't have anything planned for the day, other than to go look for the anniversary card that I purchased a while ago. I stashed it somewhere and the hunt will be to find it. Wish me luck.

My New Love Affair
I stayed with Gal Pal, Tammie, this past weekend. She called me Friday night and wanted me to come stay. I hadn't seen her for several weeks, so I was up for it. We did a catch up on kids and events and life in general.
We decided to do a major shop at the mall the next day and spent several hours putting together an outfit for her for her son's wedding this coming January.
I needed a new purse and found the perfect one as soon as we entered the store. I looked at the price, fainted, picked myself off the floor and looked at the purse again. With this next look, I merely swooned. I put purse back on the shelf.
We continued elsewhere in the store and did the "Tammie" shopping.
Much later we were in the purse area again and the purse was still there. Taunting me, beckoning me towards it. It was the only one of its kind. Normally when I see something that I like, but think better of, I walk away. As I did to the purse.
I made the mistake of going back.
I saw it still on the shelf and took it as a sign. We needed to be together. I was lusting after the purse. I knew true love would follow, but for now, I was still in the lusting stage.
Throwing all caution to the winds, I bought it. Later that night I was about to remove the tags and thought better of it. Know that it was much too expensive.
The next morning I switched purses and put everything into my new love. Everything fit perfectly. It molded to my body. The strap didn't hurt my shoulder like the other yucky purse. The leather is buttery soft. We were meant to be together.
Later that afternoon, Son # 2 called and asked if I could take him clothes shopping. He has a new position and needs some clothes. He is also newly broke because of the international call incident. I'm his Mother. What could I say? I'll take him shopping.
I thought about the purse and our new relationship. The purse would have to be returned. I hadn't used it, yet just loaded it to see if everything fit inside. The tags were still on it.
I went to bed, crying myself to sleep. Purse and I would have to part. The end of a beautiful love affair.
The next morning, I said "NO D@m!t. I am not giving you up. I'll eat mayonnaise sandwiches for the next six months if I have to. I love you."
And I'm worth it.

I Have Yet Another Post That Will Not Load
Staying with my other Gal Pal, Waki Jaki, I am experiencing, yet more intermittent web access.
My wonderfully, awesome post of the night will not load and you really need the visuals to appreciate what I wanted to say.
Think, cute male buns.
I will continue trying to load the pictures for the post and will post later tonight, if successful.
Sweetness, Waki's husband does have cute buns, just not as cute as yours.

They Are Too Adorable
We put up a gazebo for the guests. A little flimsy but it worked. The guests liked it.

She Threw All The Balls At Once
I put this together yesterday afternoon. This is a game that I had never seen before, ladder ball. It looks evil and it is. Those spongy round things are weighted bolos.
My gal pal is trying her hand at throwing the bolos. The object of the game is to wrap the bolo around one of the lateral bars. The orange bar is the desired bar for 3 points.
Gal pal's sister-in-law, looking gorgeous as always, holding skirt down in the breeze, has her turn.
Gal pal's father-in-law throws and scores. He's like that. He is a retired Principal.
Notice my "Feisty Cuss." She threw all the balls at once. She's like that.

Spring Must Be in the Air
Checking out the blogs I am sure that Spring must be in the air.
So much positive stuff on the net.
This is great. This is awesome. (one of my favorite words Awesome, right after Whatever).
Whatever.
I think that it is Awesome that Spring is coming (according to the calendar it has already come) and it seems, that in some places around the country, it has already Arriven. (Arriven, I love that word too).
Kudos on that. I have hope.
PS. I'm gonna spend some time with Spousal Unit tonight. You all spend some time with your special person also. That's an order. You know you want to.

Food Glorious Food - Make That Glorious Sopas
Checking out some of the Blogs I read on a regular basis I came across Evil Chef Mom and her spin on sopas. Basically sopas are a soft corn masa type bread. What makes them glorious is the stuff you put on the sopa.
Spousal Unit is from Southern California and grew up on Mexican food. I am from Jersey (Did I ever mention that I'm from Jersey??) and did not know what a taco was until I was 18 years old. That was many, many years ago, back in the Ice Ages. Anyway, growing up in a very small Jersey town we knew nothing of Mexican food.
After meeting Spousal Unit I became familiar with Mexican and came to love it myself. I have a talent that I can eat something while out and about and then go home and recreate the recipe.
I do not have this talent for anything baked. We live in an area that I have not been able to find a local source for acceptable sopas and hence the sopa recipe request.
Evil Chef Mom was kind enough to provide a recipe for me to make a special 29 year anniversary dinner for the Spousal Unit later in the month. He is leaving this Saturday for a couple of weeks to check out the new job and to find us a house to move into.
I am going to practice on #2 son while he is gone to perfect my technique. #2 son eats anything and everything so I know that when the anniversary rolls around the dinner will be perfect.
#2 son may not be happy with my beginning tries but Spousal Unit won't know the difference.

Hardware to Wear

A Perfect Fit
Because this is a family magazine, we'll leave it up to your imagination to decide why the groom wears the bolt and the bride wears the nut in this pair of interlocking 24-karat gold wedding bands. Though the stone sits in the man's ring, when the rings are screwed together it rests against the woman's finger. It's a match made in heaven. (Or a hardware store.) Starts at about $2,500 for the pair.

Be still my heart. I am so swooning over this choice of ring to wear on my finger for the rest of my life. Or not. AND where is MY sparkly???
