Things I Miss

I am rather melancholy this evening. Spousal Unit is back in the States again and I am here by myself for the next few days. I was looking through a few of my photos and came up with these. A few things I really miss.
OMG were we ever so young? I miss my youth sometimes. I was a crazy teenager and gave my parent a lot of grief. They were young, I was young. We both grew up. I miss my parents.

Me, Dad, Reenie, Mom, and Chellie.

Mom and Mr. Steve. Mr. Steve is my step dad. I really like him and still keep in touch even though Mom has been gone for over 5 years now.

My Dirty Rotten Aunt Joyce. A pet name. She calls me a Dirty Rotten Kid and loving her the way I do, its right back at her. She is holding her great grandson. My cousin's grandson. I have been away too long. I forget his name. He is adorable and a handful. That is a family tradition. We are all handfuls.
I miss my boys. Yes, they are also handfuls. But, I still miss them.

Charlie.

Alex. In birth order. Not to confuse who I love more.

And, on a couple of lighter notes. I really miss my friends. Tammy and Timmie. I spend a lot of time with them this past Summer. How they put up with me, I don't know. But, I now have a Nellie bedroom when I come back home. I think. And.... I can look forward to their hot tub.

I also miss Destin. I love walking in the surf and falling asleep to the sound of the waves.

It Is Blooming Again

I have Spring Fever. I have stated that in the recent past and I have also hinted at it. It just is. I get the fever every year. It starts in late December when I start to get the seed catalogues.

I drool over all the new seeds that are advertised and want to buy them all. In the past, I could buy many of the seeds and try them out, because in the States I had enough land to plant just about anything.

Here in Germany, my landlords are letting me have a garden, but I do not have as much space to experiment with new plants.

Boo hoo. Also, most seed companies will not ship seeds here. So I went to several local stores, and in my best reading/deciphering of German bought some seeds. (I also had a friend send me some of my favorites. I didn't just mention that did I?)

Chives, and basil. Can't live without them. I also am growing dill, parsley - flat and curly, and cilantro.

Six different types of peppers. Only two plants per type this year. I usually have 6-8 plants of the same type. I also have about five different types of tomatoes this year. I will probably give away any extra plants to friends.
Yesterday I went to the local Home Depot type store, here it is called Toom. I found these for a major bargain of .49 Euros cents per plant. They are beautiful and I can plant them in planters this weekend and put them out now.

My major score is the perennial spices I picked up. Thyme, two different types, oregano, and rosemary. All for 1.90 Euros. That is a major deal.

To really make my week, my Christmas cactus is acting like an Easter cactus. It is blooming again.

If I Last That Long

I made it home. I am deadbeat tired. I still need to stay up for several more hours so I can get over the jet lag in the shortest time possible.

I got up at 5:00AM Thursday morning for my flight out of San Diego and arrived 9:15AM Friday morning. These old bones are crying for bed. Can't give in just yet. It is 1:17PM right now and I want to make it to 7:00.

Some random thoughts:
  • Spousal Unit was at the airport to pick me up. He seems really glad that I am home. I am really glad to be home. I enjoyed my visits, but it was time to be home.
  • The flights were very timely in their take-offs and landings. No frantic dashing through airports this time around.
  • The weather here is grey and rainy.
  • I miss the San Diego climate already.
  • I do not miss the St Louis artic freeze.
  • I do miss the hot tub.
  • I got to read a couple of books on my flights.
  • The Newark to Frankfurt flight was mostly empty so I had three seats all to myself. I actually got to snooze a little bit.
  • Spousal Unit wanted to go out to dinner tonight. I kinda nixed that idea. I know that I will be flat out jet lagged by then.
  • I figure a salad and cheese fondue will be nice for dinner. If I last that long.

Not a Clue

I have no idea about what to blog.

I was busy all day at work. Yeah right, I usually am.

Wee One started a blog last night. I am major PG. She is not. I am looking forward to seeing how her story evolves, but I know it will not be PG.

Broke a couple of nails in the past two days. Really, the only vanity I have are my nails. I bit them as a child, felt shame, and now pay to have them look gorgeous. Once again, Vanity thy Name is Woman. That vanity stuff is starting to creep into my life. First the nails, then the hair.

Who knows what else?

Oh yes, OOHM September on the beach.

Brain Dead

Right now I am feeling really brain dead. I have wracked my brain most of the afternoon for a subject on my post tonight. I found some really great stuff on YouTube but none of the videos do justice to my current mood.

So tonight I'll just fill you in on the snippets of the past few days.

Took the Spousal Unit to the airport this morning. We got there in a timely manner and I got a real kiss goodbye. The first on the lips kiss since the creeping CRUD invaded the household. We have been blowing kisses across the room or a quick peck on the cheek for ages now. I get my first real kiss and he's gone.

Sent Spousal Unit off on the trip with the camera and USB drive for uploading the pictures. He has promised to email the pictures he takes on the house hunting quest. The last time we lived in Europe he chose our house and did a really great job, so I am confident that he will have a repeated success.

Child #1 made it to Florida last night. He is safe and sound and hungry as of early last evening. All I could do was to remind him that I love him and DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE. HAVE FUN, BUT STAY PUT, OR WALK. I hope he listens. I have been pounding that point for years now and can only hope and pray my words stuck.

Child #2 had to work tonight. He went in at 4:00 and I anticipate that he will work till 8:00 unless he can talk the boss into some more hours. Unless the shop is totally dead, he is usually able to talk the boss into more hours. Being the male version of "She who" he can usually talk his way around the boss.

Child #2 just called. He is really ready to find a place to live in the next few months. His first choice fell through and he is now willing to consider some of the options the Parental Units suggested.

Oh yeah, did I mention brain dead? I managed to screw around all afternoon trying to come up with some theme for today's post and avoided the dreaded basement.

Sparky

He, AKA my Sweetness, is AKA Spousal Unit and Sparky. Various names have sprung forth depending upon which chore HE is performing at the time. People keep asking me why?? I don't know. I guess it keeps the relationship interesting. I never know who I am going to bed with at night. After 29 years it works.

I'm Just Across the State Line From This Stuff. In My Heart.

Watch this Improv. It's a hoot.

Jersey girls get a kick out of seeing stuff from home. Or close enough to home. Doesn't that count?

Now if I could have a tomato pie with extra cheese and Italian sausage I would die and go to heaven. That's a pizza by the way.
